The first financing agreement is entitled “Appui au Développement Economique par la Promotion des Chaînes de valeur et de l'initiative privée”.

"This dual signing ceremony for financing agreements once again gives concrete form to our shared commitment: on the one hand, to combat energy poverty and promote environmentally friendly energy management; and on the other, to pursue initiatives aimed at the local development of SMEs and priority value chains."

These remarks were made by H.E. Mr. Alamine Ousmane Mey, Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development and Coordinator of the Cameroon-European Union Partnership, during the dual signing ceremony for financing agreements. The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Jean-Marc Chataigner, Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Cameroon, as well as Ambassadors from European Union member states represented in Yaoundé.

The first financing agreement is titled "Support for Economic Development through the Promotion of Value Chains and Private Enterprise." The overall objective of this funding—with a total estimated cost of €15,000,000 (CFA 9.840 billion)—is to contribute to inclusive economic development and the creation of decent, green jobs through private sector development.

The second financing agreement, titled "Support for Increasing Renewable Electricity Generation Capacity," aims to expand access to electricity—with a greater reliance on renewable sources—for everyone in Cameroon. It focuses on two key areas: enhancing the capabilities of supervisory authorities and mobilizing appropriate funding. With a total estimated cost of €54,000,000 (CFA 35.421 billion)—including a €4,000,000 (CFA 2.62 billion) EU grant—this initiative addresses the need to add generation capacity, wherever possible, in areas underserved by the major interconnection grids currently under construction; these grids transmit electricity generated by existing and future large dams (such as Nachtigal and Kikot).

Funded under the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI – Global Europe), these two financing agreements fall within the scope of Cameroon’s Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) 2021–2027 and align with the strategic priorities of Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2020–2030 (SND30).
